BADIN: District Administration with collaboration of Health Department District Badin and thalassaemia Care Centre Badin organized an awareness raising seminar title with “Role of lady health workers in prevention of HIV-ADIS” on Monday at thalassaemia Care Center Badin.
The large number of Lady Health Workers, Lady Health Supervisors, doctors, Govt officials of district and others were attended the seminar when Mohammad Abbas Baloch, Divisional Commissioner, Hyderabad Division, Taj Mohammad Mallah, Member of Provincial Assembly, Sindh, Dr. Hafeez Ahmed Siyal, Deputy Commissioner, Badin, Dr. Haroon Memon and others were the chief guests of the seminar and it was organized in the wake of an alarming rise in HIV-AIDS cases in Larkana district.
While addressing the participants Mohammad Abbas Baloch, Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad added that lady health workers play key role in awareness raising regarding HIV-AIDS in the district as they were facilitating and providing thier health services to the people of district at their door step.
Mr. Baloch said that unsafe blood transfusions and the use of un-sterilized medical equipment were the main causes of the spread of HIV/AIDS.
Mr. Baloch also emphasized the need to enhance the capacity of all healthcare workers, adherence to injection safety standard operating procedures and the ways to implement such good practices.
The Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad Division also urged to hold more awareness raising events like seminars, walks & rallies to educate the common people regarding HIV-AIDS.
Earlier, Mohammad Abbas Baloch, Divisional Commissioner, Hyderabad while chairing the officials meeting here at DC office on the same day also issued his directives to take stern action against the quacks according to him they were as major source to spread the HIV/AIDS adding that district administration should ensure proper implementation of the ban on the reuse of syringes and also assure the use of auto-lock syringes in the all health facilities of district.
Meanwhile he also issued directives to district administration to take stern action against water thieves in the district and said those officials who were involved in water theft would be sent behind the bars.
Other hand, Dr. Hafeez Ahmed Siyal, Deputy Commissioner Badin while his briefing said that Badin district was the hub of the multiple crops of the province so sufficiently and adequate water flow should be assured till the tail ends adding that water flow to the tail ends of the district Badin was being assured.
Dr. Siyal also stressed the public health department, Municipal Committee and town committee administrations to assure to provide the clean drinking water to the citizens at any cost and said no accuses would be accept in this connection. Wayfares of all cities and towns of district should be made clean, he stressed.
